Agatha Christie Mystery Collection
Agatha Christie Miss Marple Mystery Collection 4 DVD Set M Rutherford 1961-1964

Margaret Rutherford emerged as a marquee name internationally in 1961 in this series of screen adaptations of Agatha Christie's work from MGM. All were predicated upon the notion that the geriatric population of England, as embodied by Rutherford's Miss Jane Marple and her friends, such as Mr. Stringer (Stringer Davis, Rutherford's real-life spouse), were its greatest and most interesting resource, with things still to teach the younger generation of adults coming up behind them. The Agatha Christie Miss Marple Collection is a nicely put together set of four popular, feature films.

Murder, She Said (1961)

Paddington Station...next stop...murder!

Dozing in her train seat, elderly English gentlewoman Miss Jane Marple awakens just in time to witness a dreadful strangulation aboard a passing train. "Murder," cries Miss Marple. "You were dreaming," the police reply. Undaunted, Miss Marple sets out to uncover the truth, even if it means uncovering an extra body or two!

Murder Most Foul (1964)

Although the evidence appears to be overwhelming in the strangulation murder of a blackmailer, Miss Marple's sole 'not guilty' vote hangs the jury 11-1. She becomes convinced that the real murderer is a member of a local theatrical troupe, so she joins them in order to gather information. The clues lead back many years to a single disastrously unsuccessful 1951 performance of a dreadful play written by the group's hammy director, H. Driffold Cosgood. Although at that time, several of the current cast members were only children, more murders follow before Miss Marple ultimately exposes the killer.
