Christine C. Sanders was born in Tampa, Florida. She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Florida and married W Eugene Sanders, Jr., a physician educated at Cornell and Johns Hopkins Universities. Together, they spent nearly thirty years as teachers and researchers in the field of Infectious Diseases and Antibiotics at the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. They authored or co-authored over 200 scientific publications and hold eleven patents. Recently retired to Florida, they have turned to research and writing about antiques and collectibles. Striker Lighters is the outgrowth of 30 years of collecting at auctions, antiques shows and flea markets world wide. The striker is the only major type of lighter that has been made continuously throughout the era of the cigarette lighter which continues to this day. Thus, these fascinating lighters have evolved and mirrored events and trends in art and history since their initial development 100 years ago.
