Tampa makes a TD when Dorsett gets clocked and Cecil Johnson runs in the score with his "in your face" dunk between the goal post for the Bucs first TD of the year. eagles at cowboys 1977- Tony Dorsett as a Rookie rush 206 yards for his biggest one game total ever. Dorsett has an awesome 84 yard breakaway run to put the tight game out of reach and becomes on the 9th rookie to score 200 yards in a game. Dorsett at his best. Eagles tie it up in the 3rd quarter on a 12-yard TD pass to Harold Charmichael. Other Eagles score was a 51-yard pass to Hogan in 2nd quarter. Dorsett starts the scoring on a 1-yarder in the 1st and Drew Pearson catches a 16-yard TD from Staubach in the 2nd.
denver at cowboys 1977--Super Bowl prelude. Staubach throws for 2 TD's one a 22-yarder to Preston Pearson and the other a 7-yarder to Newhouse, to seal the win both coming on drives of 62 and 60 yards. Dorsett gains 50 yards to give him 1007 for the year. Craig Morton has to leave in the 1st quarter with a hip bruise. Both teams finished 12-2 for the year.
patriots at cowboys 1978--Patriots lead at halftime 10-3 behind a 52-yard run by Cunningham. Cowboys tie it up late in the 3rd on a flee-flicker 40-yard TD pass from Staubach to Tony Hill. The game winning score is set up by Harvey Martin's interception of a screen pass early in the 4th quarter and Staubach hits a 36-yarder to Dupree to give Dallas the NFC East title. Staubach completes 27 for 243 yards.

Cowboys jump out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter behind a 1-yarder from Laidlaw and a 16-yard pass from Staubach to Dorsett. Eagles score in the 2nd quarter on a 1-yarder from Hogan , this after a 73-yard drive. Cowboys jump up 31-7 in the 2nd half after a 23-yard run from Dorsett and 44-yard TD pass from Staubach to Laidlaw. Eagles would score in the 4th with a 4-yard run from Barnes. Doomsday forced five turnovers for their 9th straight defeat over the Eagles - 3 interceptions, two recovered fumbles and eight sacks.
1978 saints at cowboys--Dallas wins this one against Archie Manning and the Saints. The Saints score first on a Muncie 1-yard run but Doomsday stops it there. Dorsett has a good day with 152 yards and a run for 63 yards along witha 2-yard TD. Dorsett became the 3rd rookie to rush for over 100 yards in his first two seasons. Thomas Henderson set up their first TD on a fumble recovery. Staubach runs for a TD after Larry Cole intercepts the ball and has a 24-yard TD pass to Dupree. bears at dallas 9-13-1979---Watch two of the best running backs ever to play both get over 100 yards rushing while Peyton becomes the Bears all-time leading rusher in this game. Great game that Staubach has one of his great Captain Comeback wins in the last 2 minutes of this game. Staubach was the key in this one with 220 yards passing and 3 TD's. The Bears start the scoring when QB Evans runs for a 3-yard TD in the first quarter for which Dallas answers with a 42-yard strike from Staubach to Tony Hill. Chicago goes up on a 52-yard in your face TD from Golden Richards. Staubach answers on a 11-yard TD to Dupree, then the Bears go ahead on a 64-yard TD pass from Evans to Scott. Winning drive was a four play 71 yarder with the final TD being a 22 yard pass to Tony Hill. Great game.
Vikings at Dallas 1-1-78--Cowboys win this one on their way to Super Bowl XII. The underdog Vikings play tough but the Cowboys were just too talented. Too Tall has a great game with 8 solo tackles and 4 assists and is interviewed after the game as well as Landry. Harvey Martin recovers 2 of the 3 fumbles while Doomsday limits the Vikings to only 66 total rushing yards. Scoring started after Martin recovers a Robert Miller fumble on the Vikings 40 and Roger answers with a 32-yard pass to Golden Richards. Dallas scores again early in the 2nd quarter on an eight-play 46 yard drive kept alive by Danny Whites fake punt run of 14 yards.
redskins at Dallas 11-23-78 --Thanksgiving day massacre, not even as close as the score. Scott Laidlaw rushes for 122 yards and scores two short TD's. Drew Pearson catches a 53-yard pass from Staubach. Larry Brinson also scores a 39-yarder. Doomsday only allows 201 total yards by the Skins and the Cowboys offense has 507 yards total. Dallas resumes sole possession of first place in the East. Halftime Thanksgiving piece with the Staubach family.

The Bert Jonesless Colts only had 181 total yards offensively compared to the Cowboys 587 yards - their 2nd highest total up to to that point.
redskins at Dallas 12-26-79-----Cowboys win this one 35-34 in one of the greatest games ever played. This was Rogers last regular season game and he went out living up to his Captain Comeback status by throwing 2 TD passes in the final 4 minutes of the game. This also helped by the great game-saving tackle on Riggins by Larry Cole. Great game with lots of big plays. Roger throws for his 2nd highest total with 336 yards and the Cowboys elminate the Redskins from the Playoffs partly because the Bears beat the Cardinals 42-6.
Bengals at Dallas 9-30-79----Interceptions by Randy Hughes and Aaron Mitchell set up the Cowboys touchdowns. Hughes 68-yard interception led to the first TD by Laidlaw who gets two short TD's in the game. Staubach throws 2 TD's, one to Dupree and another short one to Hill. Springs caps it off with a 1-yard TD run. Bengals only TD of the game was a 10-yarder from Anderson to Bass. Dorsett gets 119 yards rushing.
cowboys at jets 1978----Tony Dorsett rushes for 121 yards and scores two touchdowns to lead the Cowboys. Dorsett's seven-yard score in the first quarter capped an 80-yard drive. In the third quarter, his 54-yad run after Billy Joe Dupree's fumble pushed the lead to 23-0. Newhouse also scores a 1-yarder and Brinson and 8-yarder. Roger sits out the game but finishes the season as the NFL's leading passer with 3,190 yards and 25 TD's. Houston at Dallas 11-22-79----Thanskgiving with the battle of Texas in 1979. Very intense rivalry for bragging rights in Texas. Fireworks start on a 56-yard TD pass to Drew Pearson, but Campbell answers witha 61-yard TD run. Staubach would then pass a 21-yarder to Newhouse and Dorsett gets a 1-yard TD. Campbell scores on a 27-yarder before half and the Cowboys will go to half up 21-17. Oilers shut down the Cowboys with only 3 points in the 2nd half while Pastorini hits two long TD's, one to Renfro and one to Burroughs. Campbell ends the game with 195-yards.
rams at Dallas 10-14-79 SNF. Staubach has 3 TD's and 176 yards passing. Cowboys lead 13-6 after a first quarter TD pass to Tony Hill and a 3-yarder to Dorsett. Cowboys would score 17 points in the 3rd quarter, a 23-yard pass to Jay Saldi and Dorsett has a 1-yarder. Dorsett gets 103 yards in the game and becomes the first Cowboys ever to rush for 100 yards in 3 straight games. Staubach also sets the Cowboys all-time record for TD passes.

falcons at dallas 12-30-78---White relieves Staubach, who suffered a concussion, with 38 seconds left to go in the half and trailing 20-13. White rallies Dallas to two second-half touchdowns , while Doomsday only allows the Falcons 85 net yards in the 2nd half. Falcons go up 7-3 on a 14-yard run by Bean, then the Cowboys take the lead in the 1st quarter 10-7 on a 13-yard run by Laidlaw. Francis has a 17 yard TD-catch from Bartkowski to take the lead going into the half. White directed a seven-play, 54-yard drive , ending with Jackie Smith's 2-yard pass to tie the score at 20-20. Doomsday will only allow 1 first down in the 3rd quarter by the Falcons. Cowboys winning TD drive came after the Falcons punter, John James, only punts the ball 10-yards thanks to Cowboys special teams pressure. Five plays later Scott Laidlaw scores on a 1 yard run. Cowboys offense go 242 yards in the second half alone under White's direction. Ed Jones got 2 sacks and Larry Cole got 2 also. The Cowboys advance to their ninth NFC championship in 13 years.
cowboys at vikings 10-18-1979----Dorsett has 145 yards rushing and 3 TD's. Vikes start the scoring on a 2-yard pass from Kramer to Tucker. Cowboys then score 20 in the 2nd quarter on 2 short TD's by Dorsett and a 33-yard fumble recovery for a TD by Benny Barnes. The Vikings don't give up and only trail 23-20 after a 28-yard pass from Kramer to Sammie White. Dorsett answers with a 30-yard TD run and Pearson's 6-yard TD run. Included in this is the halftime special for which Fran Tarkenton's number is retired.
cowboys at st. louis cardnials 9-2-1979----The Cowboys fifteenth straight opening day win. Septien's field goal with 1:15 left to finish the game after a great kickoff return to the Cardinals 48 to start the game winning drive. Dallas was up 10-7 at the half after a 4-yard TD by Newhouse then the Cards answer with a 2-yard pass from Hart to Chandler. St. Louis goes up on an 18-yard pass from Hart to Tilley. Cowboys answer on a halfback option from Springs to Hill with a 30 yard TD. Rookie Otis Anderson who has a great game with 193 yards gives the Cardinals the lead on a 76-yard TD run. Another great hard fought game between the two rivals.
cowboys at packers 1978----Roger Staubach throws for 200 yards and 2 TD's to Billy Joe Dupree who makes two awesome catches for the TD's - 8 and 18 yarders. Tony Dorsett runs for 149 yards and 2 TD's - 9 and 33 yarders. Robert Newhouse also gets a 100 yards and 2 TD's - 14 and 3 yarders. Late TD from Douglas to Odom by Green Bay. Cowboys had a team-record 313 rushing yards. This victory kept the Cowboys within one game of the Redskins.

Game is joined in progress as you see an end zone shot of Tony Dorsett running for a 77 yard touchdown. Harvey Martin has an awesome game as he dominates the left tackle on his way to becoming the Defensive player of the year. Cardinals took their largest lead with 36 seconds left in the 3rd quarter when Charlie Davis scooped up a Staubach fumble and returned it 35 yards for a TD. Cowboys went on a 77 yard scoring drive - Dorsett one yard TD and then 67 yards for the final TD. Dorsett has 141 yards rushing.
washington at dallas 10-16-77----Great hard hitting game between the NFL's greatest rivalry. Close game at half but Doomsday II is too much for the less talented Skins. Drew scores on a long pass from Roger and so does Golden. Newhouse scores two up the middle. Kilmer and Theismann play at QB. Roger throws for 250 yards. Redskins actually go ahead in the 3rd quarter 16-14 on a Mark Moseley 53 yards field goal but it's short lived.

1979 Cowboys - 28 vs Giants - 7 ( Starts with 8 minutes left in 1st no scoring missed )
3 TD's from Staubach to Pearson are the story in this game to help the Cowboys end their 3-game losing streak. Dorsett gain 108 yards and becomes only the 2nd player to gain 100 yards in his frist 3 season ( John Brockington the other). He also has a 1-yard TD. Giants do score first in the game on a 2-yard run by Taylor. Doomsday registers 5 sacks and hold the Giants to 197 yards of total offense. This win keeps the Cowboys tied with Washington for 2nd place in the East. Game I best remember for Drew Pearson jumping up and spiking the ball after a TD, but comes down and sprains his ankle.

Great game that comes down to the wire. Big game for Philly who is looking for home field advantage in the playoffs. Scoring starts with a 1-yarder from Laidlaw and Montgomery scores on a 14-yard pass from Jaworski to tie the game up at the half. Newhouse will score on a 17-yarder and Butch Johson scores his first TD of the year off a deflectedpass to put the Cowboys up by 14 in the 4th quarter. Montgomery scores again on a 1-yard run with 5:51 left but the Cowboys hold tough. Since the Redskins beat the Bengals this causes a 3-way tie in the NFC East

Ferragamo throws 3 TD's, the last one to Billy Waddy with 2:06 remaining in the game. He also had TD passes to Windell Tyler, a 32-yarder, and 43-yarder to Ron Smith. Rams were up 14-5 at halftime. Cowboys go up 19-14 in the 4th quarter a 1-yard TD from Springs and a 2-yarder from Saldi. Staubach's last game.
1980 Cowboys - 20 @ Broncos - 41
Starts with two short TD's by Matt Robinson of the Broncos. White connects with Tony Hill for a 36-yard TD but Denver's safety Bill Thompson recovers a fumble for a TD to give the Broncos a 24-10 halftime lead. Fred Steinfort has an in your face 55-yard field goal to end the game scoring.

Dorsett would say this was one of his greatest runs - he runs off-tackle, then puts on the skids which causes two Cardinals to collide, then he spins around and sweeps left for the TD. Cowboys go back up when Dennis Thurman intercepts the ball and runs it in for a 78-yard TD. Great see-saw battle.

Cowboys will go up 35-10 in the 4th quarter after Dorsett breaks a 55-yard TD run. Dorsett moeve to 8th on the all-time career rushing list this day. Dallas D gets sacks.

White then hits Doug Cosbie with 3:48 left in the game and 21-seconds later would hit RonSprings for a 32-yard TD pass thanks to Dennis Thurman's interception. Dorsett has his 3rd longest run from scrimmage of 77 yards. This is also the game where Cosell makes the famous "Look at that little Monkey run" statement. Cowboys get only 85 first half yards but respond with 271 in the 2nd half behind bombs from Danny White to Tony Hill of 75 and 51 (awesome one handed catch) yards in the 3rd quarter to make it 23-17.

The difference in the game was the two defensive TD's by the Falcons. One was a 22-yard fumble return by Pitts in the 2nd quarter and the other was a 33-yard interception return in the 3rd quarter.
