The year is 1944, the place is Jenkinsville, a small town in rural Georgia whose tranquility has been shattered by the presence of a POW camp for Germans captured abroad.
Life is hard for the POW's, but even harder for the 14-year old Patty Bergen, daughter of the town's only Jewish family, Ostracized by her peers, abused by her overbearing father, and ignored by her weak-willed mother, Patty, like the POW's dreams only of her escape.
Her chance comes as she gets to know Anton Reiker, a POW who longs to return to his much beloved Munich. Hounded by the FBI, a net closes around their backwoods hideaway, and their growing love. As the G-men close in, Anton faces death, but Patty faces a far worse fate. As a traitor to her country, she will be shunned, dishonored and disowned... unless she fights back.
