Cluny Brown is the outspoken niece of a London plumber who sends her to work as a maid for a well-to-do family in the English countryside—after she fixes the sink for a friend during a dinner party.
She meets a handsome Czech refugee, writer Adam Belinski, who is quite taken with her refreshing outlook on life.
She is surprised to meet Adam again, as he is staying with the family she is in service to. The two fall in love but can they overcome the class conventions that surround them?
