This ad is for a DVD of the documentary " Why Did Johnny Kill? " This is a VERY rare HBO America Undercover documentary, made in the 80's. This one of the very first of the "America Undercover" series. As of the posting of this ad, I am the only person on the web with a DVD copy. =) This is a very interesting documentary about teens who committed murders in the 1980's. This documentary covers the following 3 murder cases:
_________________ The John Justice murders
"Teen Facing 4 Murder Charges," proclaimed the Buffalo News on Sept. 16, 1885. John Justice, 17, a student at Kenmore West High School is charged with the murders of his entire family, leaving dazed friends and relatives to ponder the unanswerable question? Why?
On September 16th, John's brother, Mark, 13, opened the front door of the Justices' house and stepped in. John approached his younger brother from behind and stabbed him eight times in the back with a five-inch hunting knife, killing him instantly. Forty minutes later the boys' mother, Mary Justice, 36, a swing-shift worker at the town's Du Pont manufacturing plant, came through a side door where John was apparently waiting in ambush. He pushed her down the basement steps, then attacking again when she fell. The coroner would later count 14 stab wounds.
According to a policeman, Justice then washed the blood off his hands and took the car to pick up his father. Apparently the boy let his father enter the house first, then struck from behind once again. Moments later the senior John Justice lay dead on the living room floor of the house at 308 Mang Avenue.
John then drank alcohol and took two razor blades from the bathroom cabinet and slashed both his forearms, but failed before he could kill himself. He then drove a half mile from his house at more than 50 mph into the rear of a 1965 Ford Mustang that was stopped at a traffic light. The driver, Wayne Haun, 22, a student at Buffalo State University, was killed instantly,. When police arrived, they found John Justice huddled beneath the Chevrolet's dashboard with minor injuries.
"I killed my family! I killed my family!" the 17 year old screamed to one of the first officers on the scene, says an investigating detective. The policeman looked around in bewilderment. "But you're the only one in the car," he replied.
______________________ Ryan Unruh 14
April 1986, Broomfield
Rita French, 36, was stabbed, choked and beaten with a hammer by Ryan Unruh, 14, and Greg Lund, 15, who planned the killing with her son, Doug French, 13.
The boys were sentenced to five years in juvenile detention.
_______________________ David Mancuso
Thursday, January 9, 1986
Norma Russell was very kind hearted and one of the popular cheerleaders of Northern High. She went out of her way to befriend a very unpopular young man named David Mancuso. David was routinely picked on and insulted by his fellow classmates. During their unstable friendship, he slipped into her bedroom closet one evening while her family was out. Norma's father found him there and sent him home. David continued to misunderstand Norma's friendly intentions and this afternoon in the school's parking lot, as school was dismissed for the day, he gunned her down with seven shots from a gun.
He fled the scene and the hunt was on for the young killer. Even off duty Durham County Sheriff Officers were searching for David using their own private vehicles. When the young killer was finally brought in, he had a nasty smirk on his face. As the police continued to investigate the killing of Norma Russell, they found on the back of one of her desk chairs a drawn tombstone with R.I.P. on it. David sat behind Norma in that classroom and drew the tombstone before he killed her.
I do want to add a warning to this ad that this is a very graphic and scary documentary. Crime scene phots are shown, and the teens describe the murders in detail. It also has the actual recording that David Mancuso made about murdering Norma Rusell. This documentary is definitely not for any under 14.
