This original last episode aired on 3/29/1978 as the curtain drops on one of TV's longest running and most popular variety series.
In this expanded two hour program from 1978, Carol recalls some highlights of her series which began in 1967. In addition, it includes a touching surprise cameo appearance of Jimmy Stuart overwhelming Carol, clips of her singing with Liza Minnelli, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Perry Como, Rock Hudson, and Ray Charles; solos by Vicki Lawrence and former regular Harvey Korman along with takeoffs on The African Queen, Columbo with Steve Lawrence and appearances by Rita Hayworth, Burt Reynolds, Buddy Epson and Bob Hope. In sketches taped for the show, Carol portrays some of her characters, the addled secretary Mrs Wiggins, who's about to be fired by her boss Mr. T-T-T-Tudball (Tim Conway) as well as a nervous Eunice who finally pays an overdue visit to a psychiatrist (accompanied with Mother (Vicki)). In closing, Carol characterizes her trademark charwoman offering some reminiscent comments about her feelings on the shows success as well as the decision to cancel a 12th running season. All together, this offers many intimately warm and sincere moments shared from Carol filled with laughs, look backs and shared feelings.
While this particular episode was never commercially printed, this original broadcast quality DVDR provides anyone who enjoyed this program a step back to share in some significant memories of years gone by. |
