This trunk was made by Ajax Trunk and Sample Case, NY,NY in, from our research, the 1920's or 1930's. We aretold that is was a "running board trunk" designed to mount on the running board of a vintage automobile to hold a salesman's samples, or the driver and passengers' wardrobe.
It is in original, non-restored condition. We do not have much knowledge of normal wear, etc. but hopefully the photos will show what you need to know.
The size is 42.25 inches long, 18 inches inches high and 11.25 wide at its base, tapering to 10 inches wide at the top.
We are located in NJ, where we aquired the trunk about 10 years ago. We paid $50.
