Coach starred Craig T. Nelson, Jerry Van Dyke, Bill Faggerbakke and Shelley Fabares. Rob Schneider and Lenore Kasdorf made occasional appearances. Coach was aired on ABC from 1989 to 1997; it was an American television sitcom.
Coach was created and produced by Barry Kemp who was an alumnus at the University of Iowa. The name of the main character was from the long time football coach of the university.
The setting was at the fictional Minnesota University which represents the University of Iowa and its team Golden Gophers. Craig Nelson represents the main character of the show, Coach Hayden Fox. The story focuses when the Minnesota State takes the U of M’s place in the Big Ten Conference. The screaming eagles in the show reflects the real Golden Gophers
On September 1993, repeats of Coach were aired on syndication and today they air on USA network were these are from.
