“ The New WKRP in Cincinnati ”
was a sequel/spin-off of the original WKRP in Cincinnati and was made for the Syndication market for two seasons, 1991-92 & 1992-93.

Gordon Jump as Arthur Carlson, Frank Bonner as Herb Tarlek & Richard Sanders as Les Nessman, Returned to reprise their roles from the original show. Other original cast members came in for guest spots, with Loni Anderson as Jennifer Marlowe returning for two episodes, Tim Read as (D.J. Venus Flytrap) for one episode, and Howard Hessman as Dr. Johnny Fever, appearing in nine episodes total (four in the first season, five in the second), as well as directing several other episodes. Jan Smithers & Gary Sandy were the only members of the original WKRP cast who did not appear in this version.

The show underwent many cast changes during its run, and was cancelled in 1993 after 2 seasons. The show was not quite up to par with the original, ( A Spin-off rarely is) but this one had some GREAT Moments that were just as funny & off beat, if not more so, than the original series. For a big WKRP Fan like me It’s a MUST SEE !!. This unruly series left you with three Burning Questions; 1. Will Les Ever Get His Walls ?; 2. Is Elvis Still alive & A Friend Of Les Nessman & 3. Is “Razor Dee” the long lost illegitimate son of “Johnny Fever” ?? None of these will ever be answered, and well they shouldn’t be !!

Among the notable actors that were cast members on the show were Myrelti Williamson, as program director Donovan Aderhold, Taeny Kitaen as late night D.J. “Mona Loveland“, and future “3ed Rock From The Sun” co-star French Stewart who joined the cast in the second season as morning D.J. “Razor Dee.”

The actual AM channel location of WKRP was never revealed in the original series. In this version, the station is identified as being at AM 1530, the actual home of WSAI, (now WCKY) also licensed to Cincinnati.
