This one of a kind fully functional juice press is solidly constructed by a skilled artist from Alabama red and white oak. The legs nad feet are red oak; one and five eights inch thick attractively decorated by Mother Nature’s masterful hand. The cross bucks, hopper and juice pan dams are glistening quarter sawn white oak. Both the red and white oak have been sparingly graced with artful worm holes. The press plates are white and red oak. The inside bottom of the juice pan is heavy gauge stainless steel, securely screwed and sealed to a high quality yellow pine plywood base and rimmed by quarter sawn white oak dams. The press is 30.5 inches tall and 23 inches wide. The hopper is 13 inches in diameter, 12 inches tall and holds five gallons.
The legs, feet, cross-bucks, the outsides of the juice pan dams and the juice pan outer bottom are finished with three coats of hand sanded semi-gloss polyurethane. The juice pan interior white oak dams, the hopper and press plates are coated with multiple layers of hand rubbed bee’s wax. All fasteners that contact the juice are stainless steel. Only bee’s wax and silicone sealant are used on the members that could be in contact with the juice.
The press components glow softly and have a smooth comfortable feel. Although sturdy enough for a lifetime of work, the press could be a graceful accent piece for the wine connoisseur’s home or wine cellar. The press is inconspicuously labeled and signed by the artist. |
