CHAMPION THE WONDER HORSE 1955 WESTERN CLASSIC!

Champion the Wonder Horse was a children's television series in 26 episodes set in the Old West. It was first broadcast in 1955 and 1956, and starred Barry Curtis as twelve-year-old Ricky North, who lived on his uncle's ranch in the American southwest. Ricky's companions were the wild stallion, Champion, and the German Shepherd Dog, Rebel. Ricky's uncle, Sandy North, was played by Jim Bannon.
The exploits of Champion, a wild stallion who befriends twelve year-old Ricky North (Barry Curtis) in the American Southwest in the 1880's.
Although Ricky, who lived on his Uncle Sandy's (Jim Bannon) ranch, had a magnetic attraction for trouble, he was always rescued by the Wonder Horse, aided by the boy's other bosom companion, German shepherd dog, Rebel. High adventures but ones that fired the imagination. Bad guys would be trying to sell worthless land by shooting gold dust into the ground, but Ricky and Champ would foil their plans, hiding from bad guys Ricky would put a branch on Champ's tail to wipe away Hoof print's and would generally save the day. Which is what most kids at that age would love to do. Minor characters in the series included Sheriff Sean Kelly, bare-knuckle boxing champion Gentlemen Tom, Dick Crabtree the town's ambulance chasing lawyer and Nicky Brandwood - queen of the saloon.
