Mixed media: India Ink,Watercolors,Gouache and Acrylics on 12" Wide X 9" Deep Crescent Illustration Board. This scene is 'typical' of the fishing villages of Charente-Maritime on the Atlantic Ocean West Coast of France near Marennes..and slightly south of Brouage, birthplace of Samuel de Champlain, the Founder of 'New France' QUEBEC,Canada.
This region is the premier oyster harvesting area of Europe and you can see boats like this every morning in the bays and harbors. The artist based near Ft. Lauderdale,FL has a permanent residence/atelier/studio located 40 miles north of where this scene is..in La Rochelle,France on the Bay of Biscay (Atlantic Ocean).
Scenes such as this are seldom painted by American born artists..and Mr. Sterling is familiar with quaint 'off the beaten path' villages..and he said that the 'landscape' of that area reminds him of the small fishing villages of Cumberland County,New Jersey along Delaware Bay. He is originally from nearby Philadelphia,PA.
100% ORIGINAL HAND MADE ART. This is NOT a giclee, copy, forgery or enhancement and it is signed and dated by the artist lower right portion. The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) will be sent with shipment. Shipped VERY FAST by USPS PRIORITY MAIL ($12 shipping USA and $24 Shipping Worldwide). The painting will arrive READY TO HANG in a clear plastic photo type box frame.Photo 2 was taken in lower natural lighting conditions. The artist reserves the right to future images by US copyright.
