This auction is for one of the great war comics, Don Lomax's acclaimed VIETNAM JOURNAL.

"Don Lomax is an American comic book artist. He studied art and communication at the Adelphi University. In the early 1980s, he published comic stories in magazines like Cavalier and Hustler Humor. He contributed to Anything Goes! by Fantagraphics and drew for Pacific Comics' Twisted Tales. For First Comics, he worked on titles like 'American Flagg', 'Starslayer' (inks) and 'The Black Flame'. A Vietnam vet, Lomax is the author of the highly praised comic book series 'Vietnam Journal', published in 16 issues by Apple between 1987 and 1991."-Lambiek.Net

"These were especially popular with American servicemen in Vietnam because it was a comfortable period [of time] to portray. There were heroes and the outcome of the war was guaranteed."
It wasn't until the 1980s, however, that mainstream publishers began addressing the grim realities of the Vietnam War. Marvel Comics published The 'Nam and Semper Fi, and Apple Comics, an independent publisher, pushed boundaries with Don Lomax's Vietnam Journal, which graphically portrayed the war's violence and the sacrifices made by the servicemembers who fought it."
