SYNOPSIS:
It's his last chance. And he's going to fight for it.
Ernest Stick Stickley (Burt Reynolds) returns from prison, and very soon he gets involved with his old friend Rainy (Jose Perez) in a drug transaction that goes sour. Hired by a rich investor Barry Braham (George Segal), he tries to walk the line, but trouble soon follows him, as he tries to collect a debt and make up for lost time with his daughter Katie Stickley (Tricia Leigh Fisher). Stick also finds a new flame with a lady financial wizard Kyle McClaren (Candice Bergen) and gets set to enjoy a new life, but Chucky (Charles Durning) and Nestor (Castulo Guerra), the two hoods that owe him the debt, have other plans for Stick.
Burt Reynolds is Ernest Stick Stickley, an ex-con who just released from prison and gets involved in a dangerous situation after going with his friend to accomplish a drug transaction in the desert. His friend is murdered, but he escapes and now he wants revenge. He ends up becoming employed and is protected by his new employer a millionaire businessman Barry Braham (George Segal), while setting his plan in motion to take his revenge, he gets emotionally involved and falls in love with a Financial Advisor Kyle McClaren (Candice Bergen).
COMMENTS:
This movie is based on the best selling novel from Elmore John Leonard Jr.
This film is one of Burt Reynolds best movies in my opinion, great storyline, excellent cast, this movie is full of action and romance. I highly recommend it.
Anne Murray sings a beautiful and touching song "I Don't Think I'm Ready For You" at the finale of the movie.
