SYNOPSIS:
A blood and thunder extravaganza!
Sam Elliott heads an all-star cast in this western mini-series. In the Old West, cool-and-collected gunsmith Hugh Cardiff escapes from the law. Apparently the authorities want to bring him in for murder, so he moves from here to there, encountering a variety of characters. After Cardiff saves a man's life and is welcomed into -- though soon banished from -- the lucky soul's home, he meets an old cowpoke and a tenderfoot. Together, this threesome decides to create a travelling wild west show, rather than risk the often bloody destiny of a real cowboy. Cardiff will have to contend with many people, both sweet and savage, if he can leave behind his former life and commence a new one.
The fictional story of a buffalo hunter turned showman (sound familiar), this movie is very entertaining and has a ton of machismo. Sam Elliot is perfect as Colonel Hugh Cartith and the supporting cast is huge. If you like a western with quick banter, like Tombstone, this one has it. There is even a great cameo by Dennis Hopper as Doc Holiday.
COMMENTS:
This is a great western about a man who meets a girl, Then looses the girl.
The cast is second to none. This Television Mini Series where Sam Elliott plays Hugh Cardiff an ex-Buffalo hunter. With his shooting skills he starts the following the shooting competitions.
At the shooting competitions he meets Ben Johnson and Timothy Scott, the three become good friends.
The threesome get into and out of trouble and help each other out.
For a historical flare, the threesome even meet Wild Bill Hickok and go into business together.
This is a great western mini-series from beginning to end.
