SYNOPSIS:
A private eye (Sam Elliott) battles a criminal (Robert Culp) in the Australian outback for the possession of a priceless opal in this all-out action flick.
Blue Lightning stars Sam Elliot as an American private eye operating in the Australian outback. Robert Culp is co-starred as a super-criminal in search of a valuable opal. Robert Culp is forced to fight the ethical hero Sam Elliot for possession of the gem, while Rebecca Gilling vacillates as the heroine. Written by William P. Kelley, who won an Oscar for Witness.
Harry Wingate, an ex-cop turned private eye who lives on a schooner in San Francisco Bay, is persuaded by a jewel merchant to travel to Australia to retrieve a fabulous opal, "The Blue Lightning," from Lester McInally, a ruthless international criminal and terrorist hiding out in Australia's outback. Wingate is assisted by the wife of the jewel merchant's agent, and they are subjected to incredible risks as they challenge the evil McInally in his desert fortress.
