SYNOPSIS:
Jill Robinson's Bed-Time-Story, inspired by actual events, was the source for the made-for-TV A Cry for Love. Divorcee Susan Blakely, with no alimony and two kids to support, begins turning to amphetamines. While at her lowest ebb, she meets Powers Boothe, an alcoholic and three-time loser in marriage--who, incredibly, turns out to be the ideal man for her! Joseph Bologna and Renee Taylor were the guiding hands behind the Cry For Love teleplay. The film debuted on October 20, 1980.
Two educated, successful young people with drug abuse problems fall in love and help each other in their terrible struggle to overcome their addictions. Made for television.
Susan Blakely and Powers Boothe both do a superb job of portraying a drug addict and an alcoholic. As both of their lives are hitting rock bottom, these two misfits meet and fall in love. When their addictions threaten to cost them their new found and much needed love, they are forced to take a hard look at themselves.
COMMENT:
The first TV series in over 10 years that I could bare. The show lasted a short time, but the memories of it last forever. I think it really showed a more sophisticated plot line and superb actors who do really great jobs. Do yourself a favor, find this show in your local listings in repeats, and watch it!
