Plein Air painting by Jeff Sterling,created during a recent visit to his European atelier/studio at La Rochelle, France. Taking a few days to visit the many historic castles in the beautiful Loire Valley..located between Paris to the northeast and Charente-Maritime (West Coast where La Rochelle is located on the Bay of Biscay-Atlantic Ocean)..the artist created a wonderful series of ORIGINAL cityscapes and architectural watercolors! This building was constructed in the early 1600's..and the owners totally modernized the interior while keeping the exterior architecture intact.
The painting was created with aquarelles (high intensity European watercolors) and India ink for details on 12" X 9" (30.5 X 22.9cm) Strathmore Bristol paper. Similar ORIGINAL watercolor paintings have sold for $150 to $225 in the USA.
Photo 2 shows the artist, Jeff Sterling at Rochefort,France in November prior to the opening of a new art exhibition at one of the popular galleries.
Photo 3 shows this painting in a 'computer generated' 'virtual' frame..to give you an idea of how a properly selected frame can enhance the art. This is NOT the frame we send the painting in...and the final photo was taken in front of a nearby restaurant where the artist enjoyed a French countryside traditional lunch.
The painting is signed and dated in the lower right corner and the words Loire Valley,France is also written there. READY TO HANG... framed in a (temporary) clear plastic/acrylic box frame *(12" X 9"). Although this frame is sturdy and excellent for immediate display..many buyers eventually prefer to get their paintings framed professionally..locally..to enhance the artwork best for your home decor.Again..the frame we ship the art in IS NOT the 'computer generated' frame shown in the photo.
