Fly Fishing FLY TYING TABLE trout benches flies HANDMADE |
|
The item for sale is a portable fly-tying table.
When I started tying flies last year, I looked everywhere for a small table that I could use in my basement while watching TV. I wanted something that would allow me to sit in my recliner, tie flies, and watch the game.
Guess what, I couldn’t find one. Plus, anything that was remotely close to what I wanted was $300 or more!
I have become pretty handy over the years, so I decided to build my own. It works perfectly for what I need – and want.
Awhile back, I started selling my handmade lanyards and fly wallets through my website, www.creeknuts.com , and on eBay. It has been a lot of fun for me, and our clients are very happy with their purchases.
While discussing our products one day, my wife says, “Why don’t you start selling those fly benches also?” Initially, I thought she was crazy. Then, I started looking into it – my main concern was how it could be shipped at a decent rate.
Well, after careful planning, here it is! Below, I have listed the specs:
1. The table is made of pine and stained in dark walnut. It has been coated with three coats of polyurethane.
2. The table measures 26 inches high, by 19 ½ inches wide, and 13 inches deep.
3. In photo #2, you can see the table set up with tools and supplies that I use. These are not included (lamp IS included).
4. The table comes with a black adjustable desk lamp that fits into a placement hole on the back side of the top of the table.
5. In photo #3, you can see the fly-drying rack. The rack measures 4 ½ inches wide and includes five 1 1/8-inch dowel rods placed a ½ inch apart. I tie a lot of size 18 midges, and they fit fine on the dowels – so small hooks will work.
6. In photo #4, you can see the spool rack. The rack holds 15 spools.
7. To the left side of the top of the table there are instrument holders. I have placed 7 holes to hold your instruments, so they’re not lying all over your table. In mine, I keep scissors, bobbin threader, two tweezers, two hackle pliers, and a bodkin.
8. The two shelves allow you to store many of your supplies like hooks, bead heads, hackle, bucktail, etc.
9. The vise bar, which runs 15 inches across the front of the tabletop, is made for either right, or left-handed folks.
There is minor assembly required – it was the only way to keep the shipping down! I will include instructions (with pictures) that will help you put the table together – EASILY – I PROMISE!
In a nut shell, assembly will go like this: You will have four table legs, two trays (come intact), one tabletop (intact), fly-drying rack (intact), spool rack (three easy pieces that screw together. I have marked every notch and corner to match up the screw holes, plus I will include stained plugs to fill the holes. All screws are provided.
I know you will like this table. It is easy to use and can be moved from room-to-room – plus it looks nice. So guys, if you’re wife wants you to watch “Dancing with the Stars,” you can move the table to her TV room and “watch” it with her – yes, I have experience…
Shipping charges are $19.95 within the U.S. If you require international shipping, please email me your address, at our website, and I will get you the postage charge.
