Super Series 1976
- CSKA (Red Army) vs Philadelphia Flyers Hockey DVD
Summit Series 1972 and 1974
have started the greatest tradition in international hockey of last century
- the best players of North American clubs versus the best of Soviet
players!
Starting in 1975-1976 the format of the series
has been slightly changed and since then this exciting competition was played on
a club level. Also, the series were renamed to Super Series.
At the end of 1975 two Soviet clubs (Red Army and Wings
of Soviets) went to match up against NHL clubs and played 4 games each in Super
Series 1976.
This is a DVD disk with hockey game between the
CSKA (aka Soviet Red Army) and the Philadelphia Flyers played on January
11th, 1976 in Philadelphia.
This game is well-known because of rare
incident - outraged by terrible non-calls by the officials on Flyers' rough
tactics and concerned about possible injuries to Soviet players with Olympics
coming in a month (and they actually won the Gold
at that 1976 Olympics), the Soviet team leaves the ice! But only to come
back in few minutes and get scored against on delay-of-the-game penalty
they got before leaving the ice.
Even with this incident in the way, this game was the most exciting and anticipated one
in Series as Philadelphia Flyers, lead by Bobby Clark, were a very strong
team, capturing Stanley Cup previous season. This game was the last one for CSKA
in Super Series 1976, which they finished with 2W-1L-1T record.
Players introductions, all 3 periods minus intermissions and commercials
are included on this DVD.
DVD has fully
featured menu with chapters, disk has a nice label and comes in a DVD
case with insert. This disk is in NTSC format and region free.
