Super Series 1976
- CSKA (Red Army) vs New York Rangers Hockey DVD
Summit Series 1972 and 1974
have started the greatest tradition in international hockey of last century
- the best players of North American clubs versus the best of Soviet
players!
Starting in 1975-1976 the format of the series
has been slightly changed and since then this exciting competition was played on
a club level. Also, the series were renamed to Super Series.
At the end of 1975 two Soviet clubs (Red Army and Wings
of Soviets) went to match up against NHL clubs and played 4 games each in Super
Series 1976.
This is a DVD with hockey game between the CSKA
(aka Soviet Red Army) and the New York Rangers played on December
28th, 1975 in New York.
This is a historic game as that was the first game to be
ever played between NHL club and Soviet hockey club! Excitement of the Series
opener, first goal scored by Vickers of NY Rangers from Esposito and Gilbert in
just 21 seconds of the first period, a supergoal by Kharlamov, lots of action...
This game has it all!
Players introductions, all 3 periods minus intermissions and commercials
are included on this DVD. Also, it includes an interview with Harry Sinden, a
coach of Canada '72 team.
I must mention that this game is not as good in terms of picture quality as
the other games of this Series - a bit of grain throughout the game and there
are several "macroblock" occurances in 3rd period (not really blocking
the view though) that I just couldn't fix. DVD has fully featured menu with
chapters, disk has a nice label and comes in a DVD case with
insert. This disk is in NTSC format and region free.
