1987 Rendez-Vous
- USSR vs NHL All-Stars Hockey DVD set.
In February of 1987, for the second time in its
history, the NHL All-Star Game was replaced by an exhibition challenge between
NHL All-Stars and USSR National Team. Unlike 1979
Challenge Cup, there are only 2 games this time.
This is a DVD set with both games of the 1987
Rendez-Vous series played Quebec City, Canada.
Disk 1 - game 1 on February
11, 1987.
This was a hard-fought, edge-of-the-seat
battle. Despite the presence of superstars like Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier,
Jari Kurry and many others, young Mario Lemieux set up the winning goal for NHL
All-Stars.
Disk 2 - game 2 on February
13, 1987.
The Soviets took control with the
help of their young star, 20 year old Valeri Kamensky, who scored 2 goals and
assisted on one more goal. Even though the series ended in a 1-1 split, USSR
Team scored one goal more then NHL All-Stars.
Opening ceremonies with starting player introductions
are included on both disks. No intermissions or commercials. Both DVDs have fully
featured menu with chapters, disks have nice labels and come in
dual-DVD case with insert. This set is in
NTSC format and region free.
