Starting in 1989, Palin has appeared as presenter in a series of travel programmes made for the BBC. These programmes have been broadcast around the world in syndication:

1-($10.00) Great Railway Journies (1 DVD, 2 Eps, 113 min) Confessions of a Train Spotter (1980) & Derry to Kerry (1994).

2-($16.00) Michael Palin: Around the World in 80 Days (3 DVD, 7 Eps, 340 min.)(Travel 1988; Programme release 1989): travelling as closely as possible the path described in the famous Jules Verne story without using aircraft.

3-($16.00) Pole to Pole (3 DVD, 8 Eps, 393 min.)(Travel 1991; Programme release 1992): travelling from the North Pole to the South Pole, following as closely as possible the 30 degree line of longitude, over as much land as possible, i.e., through Europe and Africa.

4-($16.00) Full Circle with Michael Palin (3 DVD, 10 Eps, 487 min.)(Travel 1996/97; Programme release 1997): in which he circumnavigated the lands around the Pacific Ocean counter-clockwise; a journey of 80,000 kilometres starting on Little Diomede Island in the Bering Strait and taking him through Asia, Oceania and the Americas.

5-($10.00) Michael Palin's Hemingway Adventure (1 DVD, 4 Eps, 193 min.) (1999): retracing the footsteps of Ernest Hemingway through the United States, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.

6-($13.00) Sahara with Michael Palin (2 DVD, 4 Eps, 236 min.)(Travel 2001/02; Programme release 2002): in which he trekked around and through the world's largest desert.

7-($16.00) Himalaya with Michael Palin ((3 DVD, 6 Eps, 352 min.) (Travel 2003/04; Programme release 2004): in which he travels through the Himalaya region.

8-($16.00) New Europe (3 DVD, 7 eps, 410 min.) (Travel 2006/07) in which he ventures into Europe previously shrouded behind the Iron Curtain.

Palin's travel programmes are responsible for a phenomenon termed the "Palin effect": areas of the world that he has visited suddenly become popular tourist attractions — for example, the significant increase in the number of tourists interested in Peru after Palin visited Machu Picchu. In a 2006 survey of "15 of the world's top travel writers" by The Observer, Palin named Peru's Pongo de Mainique (canyon below the Machu Picchu) his "favourite place in the world".

Crusades description
Former Monty Python member Terry Jones hosts this journey along the ancient route of the Crusades from Europe to the near East. Computer animation, "living" paintings, battle recreations and lush illustration bring this bloody, enriching and sometimes comical clash of Christianity and Islam back to life. Each of the 4 episodes is 50 minutes long.
Credits
Cast: Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom, Terry Jones

Medieval Lives description
After his comedic antics on MONTY PYTHON, Terry Jones did the obvious and found a second career as a historian. In this eight-episode BBC production, Jones examines common characters from the Middle Ages, throwing new light on dusty old stereotypes. Like many of Jones's previous programs, MEDIEVAL LIVES exposes long-running assumptions regarding the past, among them, how damsels could be far from dainty and why knights weren't always heroic. This collection presents the half-hour episodes "The Peasant," "The Monk," "The Damsel," "The Minstrel," "The Knight," "The Philosopher," "The Outlaw," and "The King."

Barbarians description
Former Monty Python member Terry Jones has carved out an accomplished career as a noted historian following his comedic triumphs. This entry on Jones's resume is a four-part BBC production from 2006 that takes a close look at Roman history. This show is particularly concerned with debunking the many myths that surrounded the activities of the barbarians, with Jones deftly illustrating how they were far from the brainless thugs of legend. All four parts of the show are included on this program.
