227 tv show premiered on July 8, 1992. The series took place in an apartment building, numbered 227. The series stressed a working-class image with strong community and family values. Scenes were acted out on the front steps, the laundry room and individual apartments. The cast would frequently be found sitting outside on a large set of stone stairs, in some discussion that would unfold into the weekly plot line. The 227 character Mary was a mother of one struggling to meet all of her many responsibilities. The father named Lester, was a small-time contractor. And the two had an adolescent daughter named Brenda.
