BANYON - Robert Forster
$19.95 ($2.75 s&h)
Private eye drama from the Quinn Martin Productions factory set in the 1930's featuring Robert Forster as Los Angeles private detective Miles C. Banyon. Veteran actors Joan Blondell and Richard Jaeckel co-starred in the series in this stylish short-lived series.
Banyon (pilot film)
In this terrific pilot movie Banyon's client, a young woman, is found dead in Banyon's office, shot with Banyon's gun. Hermione Gingold and Darren McGavin play Peggy Revere and Lt. Pete McNeill in this pilot episode. When the show was picked up as a regular series the roles would be played by Joan Blondell and Richard Jaeckel.
The Murder Game (bonus episode)
A former girlfriend re-enters Banyon's life. It seems that two Spanish-speaking gentlemen who think she knows the whereabouts of some missing diamonds are tailing her.
This RARE 2-disc set is the BEST of what's available anywhere, quality is very good. DVDS include casing and artwork.
CADE'S COUNTY - Glenn Ford, Edger Buchanan
$29.95 ($3.50 s&h)
"Cade’s County" was a curious cross between TV western and contemporary cop show. Sam Cade (Glenn Ford) is the tough but sensitive Sheriff working out of the town of Madrid, California (Madrid County was also the real setting for the series), and was responsible for law enforcement throughout the county. He was assisted by veteran deputy J.J. Jackson (Edger Buchanan) and three younger deputies: Arlo, Rudy and Pete. Early in this CBS series, Joannie Little Bird was the police dispatcher but was later replaced by Betty Ann Sundown, both of whom were American Indians. Glenn Ford’s real-life son, Peter, aptly played the role of Pete. Unlike a great many TV westerns, "Cade’s County" treated Native Americans, the Indians, with the utmost reverence. Thus, between chases and shootouts, episodes dealt with a number of relevant '70s issues such as the plight of the American Indian. The finishing touch to this lost gem is an absolutely brilliant theme from Henry Mancini.
15-rare episodes including the pilot.
Homecoming, Company Town, Crisscross, Violent Echo, Gray Wolf, Shakedown, Dead Past, Ragged Edge, The Fake, Blackout, The Armageddon Contract, The Mustangers, A Gun for Billy, Requiem for Miss Madrid, Alien Land.
Interactive Menu's with episode selection, includes casing and artwork.
CITY OF ANGELS - Wayne Rogers
$29.95 ($4.00 s&h)
This is one of the best detective shows of its kind. A shame it only lasted half a season because it really does have a lot going for it. Much like the movie CHINATOWN with Jack Nicholson this is a detective series based in the 1930's. Coming off a successful three-season stint on M*A*S*H, Wayne Rogers was perfectly cast as a tough, no nonsense private detective. These 13-episodes are a real gem and very rare. If you like great period crime and mystery thrillers you'll love this series!
Interactive Menu's with episode selection. This set includes casing and artwork.
HAWKINS - James Stewart, Strother Martin
$29.95 ($3.25 s&h)
Billy Jim Hawkins James Stewart was the Columbo of the courtroom: A very clever defense attorney, whose drawl and laidback manner often fooled his adversaries into underestimating his skills as an attorney. Billy Jim's office was located in a small town in West Virginia, although his cases often took him to other places around the country. R.J. (Strother Martin) was Billy Jim's cousin and associate who did most of Billy Jim's legwork.
"Hawkins" shared another characteristic with "Columbo". It too was a movie-length (90-minutes) limited series, rotating in a timeslot with Shaft and The New CBS Tuesday Night Movies.
This RARE set is the BEST of what's available anywhere, quality is very good. DVDS include casing and artwork.
8-episodes on 4-discs
Death and the Maiden, Murder in Movieland, Die, Darling, Die, A Life for a Life, Blood Feud, Murder in the Slave Trade, Murder on the Thirteenth Floor, Candidate for Murder
HEC RAMSEY - Richard Boone, Harry Morgan
$34.95 ($3.25 s&h)
Richard Boone (Have Gun, Will Travel) returned to television as Hec Ramsey, a turn of the century Oklahoma police deputy that favored technology over violence using the latest scientific developments and forensic techniques to crack crimes. Because of his pistol-slinging past, Hec is forever goaded into match ups in the street - but he's a peaceful man who's determined not to draw his gun again. This 90-minute whodunit was produced by Jack Webb's Mark VII Productions (Dragnet, Adam-12), and was part of the NBC Sunday Night Mystery Movie lineup that included "Columbo", "McCloud" and "McMillian and Wife".
9-rare episodes including the pilot film, a great set.
THE IMMORTAL - Christopher George
$34.95 ($3.25 s&h)
Through a genetic fluke, test driver Ben Richards (Christopher George) was born with natural immunities to every known illness. Barring a fatal accident, Ben should live longer than anyone has ever lived. When an elderly billionaire discovers that periodic transfusions of Ben's blood can cure diseases, rejuvenate and extend life in others, the old man becomes obsessed with caging Ben, to use him as a personal fountain of youth. Ben escapes his captor, and is forced to stay on the run to avoid the billionaire's goons while also searching for his long-lost brother, Jason. Jason Richards may have the same kind of blood as Ben, and may face the same kind of danger.
With this set you're getting the complete series of (15) good quality episodes with nice screen menus plus the TV pilot movie on 8-DVDS.
MOVIN' ON - Claude Akins, Frank Converse
$39.95 ($3.50 s&h)
Sonny (Claude Akins) and Will (Frank Converse) were two gypsy truck drivers who came from radically different backgrounds. Sonny was a burly veteran trucker, owner of the giant rig that they operated, and prone to settle most of his arguments with his fists. Will was much younger, a law school graduate who had turned to trucking as a means of learning more about himself. His legal training and quick mind often prevented disagreements from turning into brawls. They were good for each other; Sonny's outgoing gregariousness counterbalanced Will's quiet, reserved personality, while Will's rational approach to problems counteracted Sonny's sucker-prone willingness to help anyone at anytime. Together they traveled back and forth across the country in search of adventure and freight to haul.
Set includes 20-solid quality episodes plus the pilot film “In Tandem”.
NICHOLS - James Garner, Margot Kidder, Stuart Margolin
$39.95 ($4.00 s&h)
After a 10-year absence James Garner returned to television in 1971 with the turn-of-the-century western Nichols. Set in Arizona circa 1914, Nichols was an affectionate depiction of the death of the old west, with Garner cast as the motorcycle-bound sheriff of an Arizona town. Nichols was amiably shady a la Maverick, but with a harder edge, more greed, and less honor. An innovative concept peopled with offbeat characters, Nichols premiered with mediocre ratings that were not aided by schedule juggling. The network, theorizing that Garner's character was too avaricious and unlikable, decreed a change: Sheriff Nichols was killed in the last episode aired, and replaced by his more stalwart twin brother Jim Nichols. Before the strategy could be tested in additional episodes, or an additional season, the program was canceled. It remains the actor's favorite among his own series.
This is the complete 24-Episode series on (12) DVDS. Quality of picture and audio is solid, comes complete with menus -- episode numbers and titles for easy access.
THE OUTSIDER - Darren McGavin
$34.95 ($4.00 s&h)
David Ross (Darren McGavin) was not the stereotyped glamorous private detective. He did not make a lot of money. He lived in a run-down Los Angeles apartment building and drove a beat-up 10 year-old car. He was a loner who never finished high school and had been orphaned as a small child. As an adult he served six years in prison on a trumped-up murder charge, before being pardoned. In short Ross had found the world a very unfriendly place and considered himself an "outsider".
EPISODES INCLUDE...
The Outsider" (Pilot / 100 min.)
Ross pursues a missing girl through the underbelly of 1967 Los Angeles, going from some Hollywood Hills decadence with a wild gay couple, down to a go-go on the Sunset Strip, and eventually finds her tripping on LSD in the Malibu shack of a part-time "guru”. As a noirish late 1960s portrayal of Los Angeles, this one is right up there with "The Long Goodbye" and "Marlowe" beautifully capturing an LA that once was. Also starring Edmund O’Brien, Ann Sothern, Ossie Davis, Shirley Knight and Audrey Totter.
A Bowl of Cherries, I Can’t Hear You Scream, Periwinkle Blue, Tell It Like It Is...And You’re Dead, The Girl from Missouri, One Long-Stemmed American Beauty, Through a Stained Glass Window
THE PERSUADERS! - Tony Curtis, Roger Moore
$24.95 ($4.00 s&h)
English Lord Brett Sinclair (Roger Moore) and American Danny Wilde (Tony Curtis) are both wealthy playboys. They are teamed together by Judge Fullton to investigate crimes that the police can't solve. Even though these two men are complete opposites, they become great friends through their adventures and constantly risk their own lives for one another.
This complete set of (24) episodes is the VERY BEST available with EXCELLENT picture and audio quality. A SOLID 10/10!
PETROCELLI - Barry Newman, Susan Howard, Albert Salmi
$29.95 ($3.25 s&h)
Tony Petrocelli (Barry Newman) is a Harvard-educated attorney of Italian descent who left the big-city rat race and headed west. He and his wife, Maggie (Susan Howard), are roughing it in a trailer while their new home is still under construction. They face hardships in this new environment - getting along financially because so many of his clients can't afford to pay him, and earning the acceptance of his fellow San Remo, Arizona, citizens. What made "Petrocelli" unique was that we see the crime from the different witnesses' perspectives. Five people see it five different ways. Which ones are telling it accurately, and which ones aren't? If it's the real killer (who most likely isn't the one charged) talking, his version is likely to be a boldfaced lie. But which one is that?
"Petrocelli" is unique in another way, as well. It was first a 1970 movie, entitled "The Lawyer". In this film, Barry Newman played an attorney who was defending a doctor accused of murdering his wife, a case loosely based on the Sam Sheppard trial. In 1974, Newman was called back to do a similar made-for-TV movie called "Night Games". This TV movie became the successful pilot for the "Petrocelli" series, bringing us a new intriguing case to solve every week for the next two seasons.
With this set you are getting (13) RARE and HARD-TO-COME by episodes plus the VERY RARE feature film and TV pilot movie.
12 O'CLOCK HIGH - Robert Lansing, Paul Burke, Frank Overton
$99.95 ($6.00 s&h)
Critics and fans alike hail this Quinn Martin produced series as one of televisions finest, especially the first season. Robert Lansing gave one of the great series performances as Brigadier General Frank Savage. It’s hard to know who gave the better performance, Gregory Peck (in the movie) or Robert Lansing -and that is high praise for Lansing. Stories ranged from the psychology in the cockpit, to the casualties of war, to suspense, to even murder mysteries and a love story.
