HAWKINS (1973-1974)

Billy Jim Hawkins (James Stewart) was the Columbo of the courtroom: A very clever defense attorney, whose drawl and laidback manner often fooled his adversaries into underestimating his skills as an attorney. Billy Jim's office was located in a small town in West Virginia, although his cases often took him to other places around the country. R.J. (Strother Martin) was Billy Jim's cousin and associate who did most of Billy Jim's legwork.

Hawkins shared another characteristic with Columbo. It too was a movie-length (90-minutes) limited series, rotating in a timeslot with Shaft and The New CBS Tuesday Night Movies.
