THE IRON MISTRESS ALAN LADD AS JIM BOWIE 1952 CLASSIC |

THE IRON MISTRESS ALAN LADD AS JIM BOWIE 1952 CLASSIC
The life of Jim Bowie is the subject of this classic movie and Alan Ladd does the character justice even though the movie is not entirely faithful to Paul Wellman's novel. It takes ore from a fallen meteorite to birth such a knife but in ‘The Iron Mistress’ the quest for the blade is also a search for wisdom. Alan Ladd stars as the fearless, knife-wielding Bowie, who is first seen arriving in New Orleans to sell a supply of lumber. Bowie falls in love with duplicitous Creole lass Judalon de Bornay (a brunette Virginia Mayo), who inspires him to increase his riches and political power. When Bowie doesn't move up the ladder of success fast enough to suit her, the fickle Judalon weds another. The film tactfully ends long before Bowie's rendezvous with destiny at the Alamo.
