This fascinating documentary takes a frank and bleak look at 5 black tar heroin users in California. They follow a HIV+ gay hustler as he eeks out a living prostituting himself despite being HIV positive. We meet a mother living in a one room hotel room with her 5 year old son. As she shoots heroin into her neck she wonders how much her son knows, as he asked her to go on methadone once. We meet a young girl, who was so sexually brutilized as a child she had to have hip braces on to repair the damage.

I guarantee this will stay with you for days after watching it. Great soundtrack. This DVD includes 2004 updates on all the characters in the documentary. Excellent look at this highly deadly drug.
