Gibson Tenor Uke, Mint Condition, 1947-1951 |
|
This instrument is a Gibson Tenor Ukulele, in 100% Mint Condition. The case is the "Aligator" design, consistant of Gibson Ukuleles in the post WW11 era. I can't pinpoint the actual date, or the population. I know that there aren't many of these around, as compaired to the Martin Tenor, it's competitor. Judging by the tuners, they are consistant of the Grover keys, used by CF Martin and Gibson in the late 1940's. There are numbers on the face of the keel block; "7051-24". Looking at the Guitar numbering system, these numbers don't jive at all. Gibson must have numbered their instruments, other than Guitars, separately.
I have placed a price of $1,500, which is reasonable, judging by what I've seen in other so called "Mint" instruments. I will accept $1,400, and absorb the shipping and insurance, if bid on before September 7th. The scans are lacking, when attached to this system, they dont do justice to the uke's magnificant appearance. I will send a "slide show by email to anyone interested.
The Uke is made of Spanish Mahogeny, with a Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The neck is made from Honduras Mahogeny, Used by Martin and Gibson, due to the light weight and amazing resistance to bending. The patina is absolutely original, and the instrument has been well taken care of, over the past 45+ years.
I can be reached by email; , or by phone (808) 722-8874. Please call between 8AM and 9PM Hawaiian Standard time (6 hours earlier than East Coast time, 3 hours earler than West Coast time)
I will accept any kind of check, personal checks take 10 working days after deposit, to clear. Money orders, or electronic check is OK.
Lots of Aloha ..........T |
