*** ***********************COMMENTARY******* ********************** It has been well maintained ever since it was purchased new, and even better since I’ve owned it. The mileage is from 3 separate road trips from NY to FL and back as well as OH about 6 times to visit relatives. If there was a need for certain maintenance item or not, it was replaced. The vehicle has not seen any type of off-roading more than a few mud puddles. No climbing, Rock Crawling or anything of that nature. It is still way too new to be treated like a muck-dog 4x4. The vehicle is ideal for light towing, camping, canoing trips, winter weather, Cargo / utility. It is Reliable, Powerful, fast, and very capable. It is a true American Beauty that has paved the way for all SUV s to date. A True Freedom Machine!!! Anywhere you want to go, at anytime. This vehicle has yet to fail me in any retrospect. It has started in –30F weather as well as 115 F.
Its looks are very militant and strong, admired both by woman as much as men. It has been nothing short of legendary in its design, capability, and longevity. It is not uncommon for a properly maintained 4.0 I-6 Jeep to go 300k miles without a rebuild on the transmission or engine. Although many people hold the wranglers in high regard, they do lack the practicality of an XJ “Cherokee” with its seating cargo and passenger room for 5 adults and much more.

When searching for a used 4x4, there are a few things to take into consideration. The 1st thing people tend to look at is the paint and overall condition of the vehicle. The 2nd is usually the mileage. The main reason most people gravitate toward a low mileage used vehicle is that it “implies” that the vehicle and its components are in good working order and have a long life ahead of them.

The issue I see most often in the ads on E-Bay is that there is little or NO mention of new items for the vehicle. This basically means that if you are looking for a vehicle that has 60,000 miles and it has no mention of new parts, it has 60,000 on those parts. You will be replacing ALL of the maintenance items on the vehicle within 20,000 miles. Try to calculate and compare this when shopping around. The lowest price/ lowest mileage isn’t always the way to go. Granted, if there was no mention of new parts on 2 similar vehicles at the same price and one had lower mileage, then the choice is evident. This particular Jeep has been owned since it had 49k miles. Also, most other ads on E-bay Motors are from dealers who simply go to an auction, grab something and try to make a dollar off of it. In their minds, why would they invest anything into a vehicle, when they can dump it and make $$ You won’t find the items you want such as a CD player, Remote Start, real tires that are worth driving on, full maintenance, ETC.
They will let you pay for everything that needs to be done after the sale is complete.
Most people buy a vehicle not just to have it but, to treat themselves to something newer, kind of like a kid on Christmas Day. When buying an auction or dealer trade in, you will soon go from exhilaration to frustration faster than a Porsche 911 can go 0-60 mph. In short, you will have your bubble burst quickly. Getting qualified and paying for an auto loan is one thing, having to do so on top of coming out of pocket $ 400, $700, and more at a time will really test your patience. It will also make you reconsider that cool deal you got on that lower mileage vehicle you had so much faith in.
