The character of Deputy Dawg (a dog)
was a deputy
sheriff in the Mississippi
bayous of the United
States. The other main characters were the 'varmints' Muskie Muskrat,
Ty Coon and Vincent van Gopher, and Dawg's boss the Sheriff,
as well as Mrs. Deputy. Much of the comedy was sight gag/action based
with some focused around comical accents and stereotypical
southern
characteristics. Deputy Dawg was voiced by Dayton
Allen, a prolific Hollywood
voice actor who voiced many characters in television and theatrical shorts in the 1950s
and 1960s.
